Message from Jean Ruddy I would very much like to thank members of our church and others who contributed towards a retirement gift for me. I had already been given some flowers and "goodies" from the members of the Wednesday communion service and had not expected anything else at all. I had always counted it a privilege to be Verger and thankful that I was able to do the job for as long as I did. However, things happened about which I knew nothing and it was a tremendous surprise when at a Sunday morning communion recently I was given a gift of a very generous amount to buy something I would like. How absolutely astonishing as were the refreshments after the service.
I decided that whatever I chose should be for both John and myself as I couldn't have done the things I did without his help in so many ways and we now have a lovely bird table in our garden, plus bird food to last for ages. We also have a large book about birds to study. We intend to use the rest of the money to pay for a meal when we get all our family together (or at least some of them!). All of this has been possible by the generosity of such a lot of people and both of us are touched by their kindness. Thank you once again, we are truly blessed.
Love from Jean and John.
