Prayer for the Dronfield with Holmesfield team.
Dear Mighty God,
We pray at this time for those who make decisions about a new Rector, to find the right person.
We hope that this person will be understanding, kind, enthusiastic,
and inspiring for the local community, our team of five churches and our school. Amen

Please remember in your prayers: Sally MacLaurin, Bernard Broadhead, Pat Walker, Edith Hobson, Malcolm Styan, Faye Jowle, Rodger Mellars and Emily.  We also pray for the family and friends of Jean Grocutt who’s funeral is in St Johns on Tuesday 10^th May at 1pm.

Flower arrangers are urgently needed for the feast of Flowers at St John’s.  Weekend 1^st to the 3^rd July. The theme is ‘Celebration’. Please have a chat with Jean Hobson, Jill Bethel or Gill Gill if you think you may be able to help, or phone the Parish Office on 412328. Your design doesn’t have to be complicated and there are other arrangers available to give help and advice, we also have books with designs in and step by step guidance can be found on the internet. Come along to the next meeting to find out more! Thursday 18^th May at 2pm in St John’s.

Religious Books Helen Wragg, Marian Giles daughter has a number of religious books that were Marion’s and she would like them to go to good homes, if you are interested or know anyone who might be please call Helen.

Friendship Hub  Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, Churches Together in Dronfield & District have been offering a weekly space for reflection, information, and action hosted at St Paul’s Dronfield between 2 - 3pm. Ukrainian guests and their hosts in Dronfield & District are telling us that what would be helpful now is a Friendship Hub.

What has been the vigil will develop into such a hub starting Sunday 1^st May from 2pm.  This is an opportunity for offering welcome and hospitality, building friendships and deepening community.  It also means those of us wanting to help but unable to offer to host a guest from Ukraine can now help in practical ways by offering welcome, hospitality and conversation.  All welcome.  (There will still be a space for reflection, and candle lighting) With thanks Rev’d James Morley

Sheffield Cathedral Archer Project Now that the church is open and we are having regular services, the box to receive donations for the Archer project is once again at the back of church and ‘the word’ from the Cathedral is that the project is particularly short of pot noodles, tinned meat, tinned fish, sugar, tinned fruit and biscuits. Non-food item shortages include men’s boxer shorts (medium and large sizes), sleeping bags and rucksacks. As in the past, once the box is full, we can arrange for the donated items to be taken to the Cathedral where they are needed.

Parish Hall – Total Clear Out: Saturday 11^th June from 9:30am Later this year the Parish Hall is going to be sold to The Gavin’s Foundation after which it will be managed and run by Life Dronfield who will eventually redevelop the whole site for use as it’s community space venue. In readiness for that we need to clear EVERYTHING out.  So, on Saturday 11^th June, starting at 9:30am, we are going to book a large walk-in skip and we will work together with Life Dronfield to clear everything out. If anyone thinks anything that they own is currently somewhere in the Parish Hall premises, then please arrange with the Parish Office to come and collect it asap, because on 11^th June basically everything will be disposed of. We also need help on the day to remove everything and put it into the skip. Please can you let Alison know if you are able to come and help so we can build up a list of how many people can support this activity. Thanks Rob

Christian Aid Week It’s almost that time once more, Christian Aid Week commencing with the usual joint churches service on Sunday 15 May starting at 6:30pm, this year at Dronfield Baptist Church. There is to be a speaker from Christian Aid to tell us about their work and some of the needs they address throughout the World. Envelopes will of course be made available in church and if you are willing/able to post envelopes ‘on a road near you’, please have word and we can decide which road(s) you should cover.

An alternative to the envelopes for making a donation is on-line or digitally via ‘Just Giving’ but please see an envelope for details as to how you can do this. Finally, one of our committee members (Angela Howard of St Philip’s) is hosting afternoon tea on Saturday 21 May (2 – 4:30pm) in her garden at Holmesdale Estate side of town.  Best wishes, Derek

THANK YOU to everyone for your support with our first ever Online Raffle in April. 150 of the 200 available tickets were sold and this has generated £170 for church funds. Having now proven the concept, let’s carry on and do it for May and see if we can sell all 200 tickets this time. In April 44 people entered, so there is a HUGE scope for us to grow this….wouldn’t it be amazing if we could grow this to 500 ticket sales over the course of the coming months. If we were able to do this, then each raffle would generate more than £800 for church funds. That’s how powerful this could be to help with our very difficult finances!

So, PLEASE can I encourage as many of you as possible to enter and also PLEASE can you all tell everyone about it and encourage them to enter. The link below is easy to paste into WhatsApp etc.
