We can all sing – but behind masks: Plans to the end of August
From our DCC the unanimous agreement was that we need to open up slowly and cautiously. We can all now sing in our services, but we ask that the congregation keep masks on, unless exempt. We will keep social distancing, hand sanitizing and cleaning after the service.
With Paul Mellars still ill with Covid, and other ministers on holiday etc., we are now planning to start 8am and 6.30pm services in September.

Readings
Ephesians 5:15-20
John 6:51-58

Collect
God of glory,
the end of our searching,
help us to lay aside
all that prevents us from seeking your kingdom
and to give all that we have
to gain the pearl beyond all price,

through our Saviour Jesus Christ. AMEN

Please remember in your prayers: Marion Giles, Bernard Broadhead, Pat Walker, Thelma Dean, Reg Creaser, Edith Hobson, Revd Paul and Dawn Mellars, Revd Ian and Julie Price, the families and friends of Brenda Edwards, Mary Levers, and Robert Wooffindin.
We also remember the family and friends of Barbara Hawley whose memorial service is on 29th October at 11am, and .Geoff Gratton who played our organ on many occasions, and whose funeral is on Monday August 16th - 3.50pm at Brimington Crematorium. .

The future of our Parish Hall.
We are pleased to announce that we have reached agreement in principle with Life Dronfield to begin a long term lease to them of our hall. Both St John’s and Life Dronfield will spend the next few months drawing up a full lease agreement with the expectation that Life Dronfield will begin renovations of the Hall as soon as possible. Life Dronfield will renovate and develop the Hall as a place of welcome and mission for all. We will continue to use the Hall for our office and children’s work.

Church open for private prayer
The church will be open for private prayer Wednesdays 9.30am - 4pm, Sundays 11.30-4pm

Church Survey – Changes to our Sunday Service Pattern
In our DCC meetings we have had some lively debates as to whether we should change our service pattern. To help our decision making, we issued a survey at our AGM. We have had some interesting and helpful responses. We would love to have more. You can now do it online:
https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/5YLGS9M If you would like a paper copy, let the office know. I have had a number of responses so far, but I don’t think they represent the majority view…. Extended deadline - please respond by 16th August.

General Synod Elections 2021
Please see the separate information sheet regarding this.

Live Streaming - Rob Aldread has organised and run the live streaming since November, with wonderful help from Josh. Rob cannot keep doing all this with his choir commitments. Can you help? Rob assures us it is not too difficult. If no help is available we won’t be able to live stream every week

The Parish Office is essential to the smooth running our churches. Following the announcement that from July 19th social distancing and mask wearing will no longer be mandatory, it has been decided that to protect our staff and keep the office fully functioning, face coverings will still be required if you need to call in – thank you.

Flowers in church: we should be grateful for donations towards the flowers in church – if you would like to make a donation please speak to Jean Hobson or call her on 290452. Thank you!

Message from Jean
Thank you very much to everyone who sent cards and messages and also gave gifts to me recently when I officially retired as Verger at St. Johns. I have been quite overwhelmed by the kindness of all concerned and made me feel that I had done a worthwhile job! Now, for some leisure!
With love and best wishes from
Jean (Ruddy).

News: As we can’t meet together as we used to do, do you have any news to share?
Please send items to the office by 9am on Thursdays.
