Dear Mighty God, We pray at this time for those who make decisions about a new Rector, to find the right person. We hope that this person will be understanding, kind, enthusiastic, and inspiring for the local community, our team of five churches and our school. Amen

Wanted: Office volunteers The Parish Office is an important resource for all of our activities as a team of churches and we are looking for some volunteers to give a bit of time to support Alison Bowen in her role as Parish Co-ordinator. The main purpose of

Alison’s job is to, "release the clergy for the work to which they have been called and appointed by taking day-to-day organisational work off them to free them for their priorities of leadership, prayer, teaching and outreach.” Volunteers can play a significant role by undertaking simple admin tasks for Alison and staffing the office when she is at meetings or on leave. Christian Aid sponsored walk 10th September Christian Aid are hosting a ‘sponsored night hike challenge’ (what we used to call a sponsored walk) and there’s a poster at the back of church giving details as to how to take part, etc. If you know someone who would be interested, please do pass on the details or refer them to me. Heike Hancox is going to be taking over the production of our weekly notice sheet. Heike and her family have been active members of St John’s now for over 15 years and we are absolutely delighted she is going to take on this role from September. St Swithins Celtic Evening Worship 7^th August 2022 at 6.30pm. This is a prayerful, reflective and peaceful service following the Northumbrian Community’s Celtic Evening Prayer pattern. Everyone is welcome.

Alpha is at Dronfield Baptist Church on Wednesday 7th September from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and runs for 12 weeks. Alpha is a brilliant and relaxed way to check out the Christian faith with no pressure or expectations.  It only works if Christians invite people they know who they think might be interested. Monthly Online Raffle Update Congratulations to Sue Harvey (£50), Richard Entwistle (£20), Martin Lascelles (meal-for-two) and Ann Ward (£10) on winning the prizes in the July Online Raffle. The July draw raised £138 for church funds, bringing the total raised since we started this in April to £735.

Electronic Giving About a month ago we purchased a Payaz Giving Station, and this is setup and located beside the first pillar as you come into church. This gives people the option to make cashless donations using credit and debit cards and mobile phone payments. £291 has been collected on the machine so far, so we’ve made a start. We now need to work together to ensure that people know it is there and to encourage collections at services (particularly weddings and baptisms) and as people pass through the church. Further to this, we have now expanded our functional setup with Give A Little using the Parish Buying Scheme meaning that anyone can easily make

donations remotely. This can be done in two ways, you can either click on the following link or scan the QR Code. As you’ll see you also have the option to be able to setup a monthly amount; and you can complete your Gift Aid declarations very easily (and you only have to do it once for each payment method).

Safeguarding Training – ‘In person’ training days
We are aware that there are some people across the diocese who are unable to use computers, and therefore have difficulty in accessing the Basic, Foundation and Domestic Abuse Awareness training (which is e-Learning), and Leadership Training which is on Zoom. We are providing an opportunity for a limited number of people to attend this training in person.  Please do not book places on this course for people who can access the courses online.
